I am excited to announce that the asynchronous ARA 212 course will be available for registration in Summer 2026. ARA 212 is a continuation of the ARA 111 asynchronous course. However, please note that this is an intensive class designed to be completed in just one month starting on May 18th and ending on July 2nd. We will resume using the textbook introduced at the end of ARA 111 and cover approximately seven chapters by the end of the term.
The foundational letters, vocabulary, and greetings introduced in Alif Baa will serve as a base for ARA 212. Over the course of the month, you will deepen your knowledge of Arabic through weekly homework assignments that include additional phrases, grammatical structures, and cultural topics.
The required book is –
Al-Kitaab fii Tacallum al- cArabiyya , Part I (3rd edition) by Brustad, Al-Batal & Al-Tonsi.
ASYNC ARA111
Also, ASYNC beginner's ARA111 will be available too. This is a 6 credit completely online with no background knowledge needed.
ARA111 covers the Arabic alphabet and focuses on communicational aspects.
The class meets from May 18th – July 2nd and done in your own pace , where ever you are with no required meetings.

Arabic classes and Minor 2026
Beginning Arabic classes are offered in Fall 2026 to start your journey in Arabic. ARA111 (Async/F2F) is a fun and easy 6 credit class, that introduces students to the sounds and the writing system of Arabic. In addition to basic greetings and communication phases, that can be helpful for traveling, business, or as a first step for the Arabic minor.
A minor in Arabic introduces students to the Arab world through learning the Arabic language. Arabic classes at ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ allow the students to explore authentic Arabic texts dealing with Middle Eastern literature, history, media, and politics of the region through the language spoken by its peoples. Starting from learning the alphabet in the beginner’s classes (Fall, Spring & Summer) to more advanced Arabic classes that introduce the students to the area through authentic texts. Both Modern Standard Arabic and dialect are introduced in these classes to equip the students with adequate linguistic background to use in their careers or academic pursuits.
The beginners and intermediate classes are 6 credits each, while the 300 and 400 level classes are 3 credits. You can start your journey in Arabic as early as this Fall.
