Why did you decide to be a recruitment chair?
A big reason I鈥檓 interested in serving as Recruitment Chair is the impact I believe the role can have on our program. As a medical student, I remember how overwhelming ERAS season was. With hundreds of Family Medicine programs across the country, I want applicants to see what truly sets EVMS apart. Whether it鈥檚 our supportive culture, diverse clinical experiences, or the unique opportunities available to residents in the Hampton roads.
What do you like most about the recruitment season?
I want to help applicants feel at ease when they interview at EVMS. I believe people can present their most authentic selves when they feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable. My goal is to help create that environment so applicants can leave their interview day with a genuine understanding of our program and its culture.
What brought you to EVMS FM?
EVMS had everything I was looking for in a residency program鈥攁 strong foundation in primary care with opportunities to pursue fellowship training. The location, diverse learning experiences, and supportive faculty all stood out to me. I also noticed that many EVMS medical students choose to stay for residency, which reinforced my impression that it鈥檚 an exceptional place to train.
Your favorite thing to do in the Portsmouth and Norfolk areas?
As someone who grew up in Canada, I鈥檓 a huge Tim Hortons fan, so having one of the few East Coast locations in Norfolk is a definite bonus. I also love being near the water, and having the beach just minutes away allows me to visit easily. Norfolk鈥檚 local coffee scene is another highlight, and you'll usually find me hanging in one of the city's many caf茅s鈥攅specially Caffiend.

Why did you decide to be a recruitment chair?
I decided to become a recruitment chair because I love talking to people about our program. I wanted to be involved in the recruitment process to meet the applicants firsthand and to share my experience and insights on all the program has to offer.
What do you like most about the recruitment season?
I enjoy getting the chance to meet the applicants at our pre-interview socials. I like hearing about their interests and seeing what questions they have about our program.
What brought you to EVMS FM?
I found EVMS FM while researching programs in my preferred regions. I was left with the impression that it was a program that provided amazing training for their residents while supporting their health and wellness. That initial impression was confirmed over the last year. I feel fortunate to have landed here.
Your favorite thing to do in the Portsmouth and Norfolk areas?
I am originally from California, so I love exploring Hampton Roads in my free time. There are tons of great local coffee shops and restaurants to try. There is also a lot of entertainment and events happening year-round.

Why did you decide to be a recruitment chair?
I have a ton of fun meeting interviewing applicants and showing them our community! I was born and raised in the Hampton Roads and have so much love for this region and our program to share.
What do you like most about the recruitment season?
Recruitment season is a blast because everyone is looking forward to finally becoming residents, and I feel grateful to share what EVMS can offer people and see if we are a good fit! The social events we host for interested applicants during Second Look are a full day of meeting some the newest champions of primary care, which is super exciting
What brought you to EVMS FM?
This region has a strong sense of community, is incredibly diverse while home to the largest Naval base in the world, and 亚色视频 and EVMS have always focused on physicians looking to give back to this community. I knew EVMS FM was my number one program due to the large class size (nothing better than a big family), the supportive faculty, and the opportunity to work at wonderful training centers, from a small community-based clinic in Portsmouth to a renowned children鈥檚 hospital.
Your favorite thing to do in the Portsmouth and Norfolk areas?
There鈥檚 a ton of fun things to do in our seven cities, from zoos, aquariums, local breweries, to the beach, ziplining, and botanical gardens! My favorite thing to do in Norfolk is going to the Virginia Zoo because it鈥檚 a huge zoo for a small city and is such a great way to relax outdoors after a hectic week in the hospital. I also love Ocean Breeze during the summer months which is our local water park, also super close to the beach

Why did you decide to be a recruitment chair?
Being able to meet so many fantastic people and to show them what we have to offer is such a privilege and, is something I wanted to undertake.
I got to do that a lot in downtown Toronto where I grew up and learned that the greatest gift is connecting with others. At the end of the day I get to do two things that I love; meet new people and talk about shared interests!
What do you like most about the recruitment season?
I like going to all of the different conventions and (spoiler) meeting new people. Hearing everyone鈥檚 stories and how it culminates in their application is one of the most interesting things in my opinion.
What brought you to EVMS FM?
I wanted a program that truly cared. It鈥檚 exactly what I got. When I was choosing residencies, it came to places that I felt like truly cared for me as a whole individual, and not simply as a person who would be here for three years. That, alongside the mixed community and academic centers of learning is what drew me to EVMS FM.
Your favorite thing to do in the Portsmouth and Norfolk areas?
Easy; the downtown core is nice but specifically the battleship Wisconsin is a must see if you鈥檙e ever downtown! I have (on way more occasions than I would care to admit) have extended my drive or walk just so that I can make sure I see it every day
